He had been taking a hard look at Cavender’s men’s merchandise mix and realized that 98% of the shirts Cavender’s carried were button-down collar shirts, with a single pocket and no western features. The Rafter C cattle brand has been in the Cavender family since 1945 when James Cavender and his dad L.O. started raising cattle and used it to brand their herd.
